The Green Bay Gamblers topped the Waterloo Black Hawks 7-4 Saturday to open the United States Hockey League preseason schedule in northeastern Wisconsin.

The Gamblers produced three goals in each of the first two periods; they were ahead 6-2 at the second intermission before Waterloo had an edge in the third.  Green Bay's goals came from seven different players, and 12 Gamblers were credited with at least one point.
 
Veteran Green Bay forward Nick Knutson opened the scoring less than two minutes into the game, and the home team was ahead 2-0 by 3:22 of the first period, with both early scores produced during power plays.

Troy Hunka notched a Waterloo special teams goal at 11:42, however, Green Bay would tally the next three before Cayden Jackman added another for the Hawks in the second period at 13:41.

Hayden Russell and Colin Dustin contributed third period power play conversions, but the Hawks were never closer than a three-goal deficit during the final 20 minutes.

The teams meet again at Cornerstone Community Center this afternoon at 3 p.m.
