The late Dolly Parton will be celebrated during the Waterloo Black Hawks game at Young Arena this Saturday, October 10th against the Madison Capitols.
The Hawks have declared Saturday "9 to 5 Night" in honor of the multitalented songwriter, singer, actress, and philanthropist. Fans will have several opportunities to commemorate Parton's legacy in the wake of her passing earlier this year.
Making her way as a musician, Parton drew on her own experiences growing up in rural Tennessee. Her style and lyrics resonated first with country audiences, before finding more mainstream recognition later in her career. Parton also showed her versatility in several prominent movie roles, beginning with her debut in the 1980 comedy
9 to 5. She was also an entrepreneur – including her namesake theme park, Dollywood – and supporter of literacy through the
Dolly Parton Imagination Library. Parton was ranked among the most widely respected Americans during the last decades of her life.
She died at age 80.
In addition to hearing Parton's most familiar tunes throughout Saturday's game, fans are also encouraged to donate books in like-new condition, which will be given to the Waterloo Public Library. Those contributing to the book drive will receive a voucher with a ticket offer to a future Black Hawks game. Fans will also be invited to
make a contribution directly to the Imagination Library, which has given children worldwide over 343 million books and counting.
Fans aged 21 and older are invited to try a
Jolene cocktail in the Coors Light Cold Zone. The name references one of Parton's biggest country hits.
Karen's Print Rite will provide 2026/27 Waterloo Black Hawks schedule posters to the first 1,000 fans in attendance Saturday. After the game, stick around for the first Signature Saturday of the season with autographs from select Waterloo players on the Young Arena concourse.
For October 10th, a special group ticket promotion provides those ordering 10 (or more) tickets with seats for just $10 each, plus 10 complimentary chuck-a-pucks.
