Hawks Celebrate Late Summer

Live to 9 is Friday Night in Cedar Falls

The Waterloo Black Hawks go upstream to River Place Plaza in Cedar Falls at the end of this week for the final Live to 9 concert of 2026.

From 6 until 9 p.m. Milk & Honey will be performing on stage.  Like all events in the Live to 9 series, the concert is family-friendly and free to attend.  Besides the music, there will be a kids zone, local food vendors, and cold drinks.

"There aren't too many Fridays left this summer, so we hope to see a lot of our fans and anyone who likes to have a good time on Friday night in Cedar Falls," said Black Hawks President Joe Greene.  "The Black Hawks organization has been involved with Live to 9 many times over the years, and it is an event we enjoy very much."

Hawks staff and coaches will be on hand mingling with concert-goers.  Fans can snag a copy of the 2026/27 home schedule and a Black Hawks souvenir, while supplies last.  The team will also be accepting entries to win free tickets for the first home game of the season on Saturday, October 2nd against the Dubuque Fighting Saints.

Milk & Honey fans can trace the band's origins back to 1967.  There have been a variety of personnel changes over the years.  Today's edition includes seven members and performs a variety of familiar favorites, as well as their own songs.  Milk & Honey was inducted into the Iowa Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.

River Place Plaza is located near the intersection of State and Second Streets in downtown Cedar Falls.  The plaza includes an amphitheater looking over an artificial grass lawn.  Fans are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets and arrive early for the best seating.

Live to 9 is presented by the River Place Neighborhood Association.
