Waterloo Black Hawks fans can simultaneously support the team and a local veteran's charity this fall.
On Saturday, December 7th the Hawks will host the Dubuque Fighting Saints. During that game, Waterloo will wear a military-themed jersey designed by local servicemen. From now through November 1st,
fans can order their own authentic customized version of the sweater, which will be delivered in time for the game.
The jerseys combine both desert camo and red-white-and-blue elements. All six branches of the military are recognized, while the Hawks' logo is re-imagined in American colors on the chest. The shoulders evoke the American flag, with a POW-MIA emblem near the top of the left sleeve. The uniforms are presented by American Pattern & CNC Works.
A portion of proceeds from the customized pre-sale jerseys will benefit Americans for Independent Living. The organization was founded in Waterloo and offers a variety of programs for veterans including housing assistance, home modifications, and the provision of basic necessities. After the December 7th game, the Hawks' game-worn jerseys will also be auctioned in support of Americans for Independent Living.
A group of longtime loyal Black Hawks fans assisted with the design. The Hawks would like to thank J.P. Sager (active duty U.S. Army), Bryan Cue (retired U.S. Air Force), Rich Miller (retired U.S. Navy), and Josh Meyer (retired U.S. Marines) for their assistance.
Orders are currently being accepted online. Fans can customize the nameplate and number on their jersey, with sizes available ranging from youth small to adult 3XL. The Black Hawks reserve the right to refuse production of any nameplate including explicit or inappropriate content, at the team's sole discretion.
The order deadline is Friday, November 1st at 9 a.m. Please allow four weeks for productions. The production timeline is subject to change. All purchases are final. No refunds or exchanges.
